My name is Christina, and I’m a sophomore studying 2D Animation at the School of Visual Arts. From a young age, I’ve always been captivated by moving images and the fascinating world of cartoons. I think it was around elementary school that I realized I preferred expressing myself through images rather than through writing or speaking. For me, drawing became a natural way to communicate with the world.

As I got older, especially in middle school, I became more drawn to the idea of moving images—animation, in particular—because it allowed me to convey my thoughts and emotions more vividly. The moving image became the perfect medium to express my inner world. I started creating my own characters and building entire worlds, which became a way for me to share my feelings and experiences with others through visual storytelling.

Now, after studying animation for two years, I’ve realized that what I truly want to pursue is a career as a concept artist or storyboard artist. The skill of framing shots, placing cameras, and playing with lighting has become an essential part of how I express myself artistically. For me, these elements of visual storytelling reflect not only my perspective on the world but also my inner emotions and personal experiences. Throughout this time, I have gained valuable experience in animation film production and cinematic language. Additionally, I recently participated in the creation of our first feature film as part of a group, which has provided me with insights into the workings of the industry.
